This study and report was prepared by Robert J. Stevens and Richard R. Johnson for the North Carolina Solar Center. The purpose of this study is to first determine, and then test the best low-cost solar pasteurization systems for this potentially viable technology.
The study first examines and describes four concept designs; a thin film polymer pasteurizer with an integral heat exchanger (SPIHX), a, a fully wetted copper SPIHX and a traditional fin and tube absorber with an external heat exchanger (SPEHX).
This is the synopsis of a report prepared by Beyond Zero Emissions and the Climate Emergency Network, with the support from Climate Positive. The final version of the report will be launched on 14 July 2010.
The Zero Carbon Australia 2020 project was conceived to develop a blueprint for the transition to a decarbonised Australian economy by 2020. Wind and Concentrating Solar Thermal (CST) with Molten Salt Storage are the two primary technologies used, with some backup from biomass and existing hydro.

The REMAP Project (Action Plan for High Priority Renewable Energy Initiatives in Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Area) is a two years initiative funded under the European Commission FP6 with the goal of investigating two electricity generation technologies: wind power and concentrated solar power, in nine European and Mediterranean countries (Algeria, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Jordan, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey).
The pioneer of solar thermal technology in Syria: Nabil Kadi Kran started producing flat plate collectors and solar tanks in the Middle Eastern country 30 years ago. He recently had to cope with a decrease in his company's sales due to cheap imports of vacuum tube collector systems from China.
